We are learning so much in our multicultural restaurant meetups, and this was another delightful surprise. I had read about it when it opened not too long ago and how hard it was to get a reservation because it was always packed. I can see why. We went on a Wednesday (with a reservation) when they opened, and they were all ready for us. The manager is Gilda (middle), her son is the cook and our server was Tamara. You have to order electronically, but they were very helpful with our somewhat "mature" crowd. They also loved our sketches. Thank you, Gilda and staff.
We tried all sorts of things, and everything was delicious. My favorite was the big, beautiful (ordered for painting purposes, of course!) green drink called a Buko Pandan - some sort of concoction consisting of coconut, sago pearls and pandan leaves. Sooooo tasty. I also had lumpia reminding me of my time in the Philippines many years ago.
For dessert (and a little out of focus - sorry!), this is a Turon or plantain lumpia with banana, jackfruit, ice cream or whipped cream and ube sauce. I have come to love the taste of ube..... ummmmm.
