The Selectmen have declared that a stale of emergency exists in Norwood regarding the Town's water supply.
During the emergency new restrictions will include the banning of the use of water for flower gardens. car washing, lawn and shrub sprinkling in general a bearing down on the use of water for anv purpose other than absolutely necessary.
Only the watering of vegetable gardens between the hours of 8 pm and 9 pm is to be sanctioned.
Town Manager Monahan commended the cooperation of the citizens of the town to date and issued a plea for a continuation of this attitude.
Town Manager Monahan told the Board Tuesday night that the water supply at present is at the lowest point that has ever been recorded in the town and this is understandable considering the two droughts, plus the fact that for the seven-month period up to July 31st this year, the consumption of water has increased 49,500.000 gallons over the corresponding period last year He stated that if the drought continues much longer the situation may indeed become more critical Based on this information the Board declared a state of emergency.
General Manager Monahan recommended to the Board that Hawes Pool be closed until such a time as we have reasonable assurances that the water supply is adequate for all necessary purposes.
