Working as a nanny for the world's grumpiest single dad should have been simple. Except I can't keep my eyes off him. And he can't keep his hands off of me.
Cade Eaton is thirteen years older than me and barely looks my way. Until I get him in the hot tub one night for a game of truth or dare. Then all bets are off - and so are our clothes.
He's gruff, a little rough around the edges, and it turns out broad-shouldered ranchers with filthy mouths are this city girl's kryptonite. So who am I to resist?
But in our quiet moments together, he softens, and I start to realise his hardened exterior is just a façade. Someone once convinced him that his best wasn't good enough. Yet I've never felt more cherished than I do in his arms.
My contract may say this arrangement is only for two months .
But my heart says this is forever.

Trope check He's her boss Single dad Age difference Grumpy snarkshine
This second book in the Chestnut Springs just grabbed me immediately without the slower run in I felt with book one. Perhaps something to do with the single dad, nanny, cute but realistic child set up. Ooh, also a delicious grumpy/snarkshine that was going on. The age difference was not icky and the FMC was 25 years old.
Willa was the bestie of Summer from book one and Cade was Rhett's brother. All of that convenience faded into the background as Cade reluctantly let Willa into the house to look after Luke his son during the summer vacation. She was unqualified but naturally fun and protective. The dynamic between Willa and her charge gave me warm fuzzies, laughs and lots of cute adorability.
Cade did not know how to smile, relax, have fun or do anything just for himself. He was a stand up dad but my goodness, the early and building tension between these two was palpable. The hot tub helped alongside a few post it notes to finally get these two to somewhere different.
The later trope invasion (not mentioned above because…spoilers) could have turned me off but Silver wrote this well enough for this couple that I got on board. Mr Cowboy Grumpy was really a great guy and I loved his characterisation; perfect for a romance.
I like how this series is building and no doubt I'll be on with the next in a couple of days.
