Hi friends, today I have a review of the 8 new granulating colors just released from Rosa Gallery. Rosa is a Ukrainian company that I found on Amazon a couple of years ago. You can check out the review here of the 12 cardboard box set. Since then I ordered the 21 modern color set and couldn't be happier with the quality and price. Rosa recently reached out to me via Instagram and asked me if I would like to try their 10 new colors (before I could buy them in the States) and I jumped at the chance! Watch the video for my full assessment of the paint.
I wrote to Rosa about my concern that the black in the granulating colors was a magnetic PBk11 and not the stated PBk7 but they stand by their label that it is in fact PBk7 in the paint. PBk7 is not a magnetic pigment so I don't know what is up with that. It doesn't really matter to me but I am a bit of a stickler for transparency in paint labeling. Do with that what you will.
Pros:
- Price Easy to rewet
- Good granulation in 4 colors
- The gold and silver are nice mixers, not chalky at all in mixes
- The super granulators mix well with other colors to make standard colors granulate
Cons:
- The new colors are hard to find
- Rosa watercolors seem to wear down a bit faster than other brands
- 4 of the new colors were pretty bland and flat looking
- I think there is a misprint on the labels. I believe the paint uses PBk11, not Pbk7
Overall I am really happy with four of the colors and gold and silver. I recommend them for sure. the others are not my cup of tea but they are good paint. You really can't beat the value of Rosa watercolors. That all from me today, have a safe and happy 4th of July to my American friends and til next time happy crafting!
