Mansie [i.e., GMB]. "Review: 'The New Shetlander' – Voar Special Number." Orkney Herald, 14 June 1949, p. 7.
"Mansie" was the pseudonym later used by GMB in 1953 for a series of his stories published in the Orkney Herald.
A review of the latest issue of the New Shetlander that concludes, "Orkney's only contribution to this feast is a rough and rabelesian [sic] short story by George M. Brown which should certainly succeed in drawing down on his head the wrath of the respectable and the evangelically religious. But perhaps – who knows – that was his intention in writing the semi-horrible and semi-comical story called 'The Dead Shall Arise.'"
