Now, on to today's review of Meeden Watercolors, paper, and brushes.
Today we are taking a look at the Meeden watercolor tube paint set. You can find it on its own or in a set with paper, brushes, and a palette. If you do place an order on the Meeden website you can save 15% with coupon code Lindsay15 Meeden website. You can also find Meeden products on Amazon
TL:DR - Their 100% cotton paper is great but the tube paint is about what you would expect for the price and I don't recommend it when there are better alternatives out there at that cost. This fan palette from Meeden is the same price and way better quality.
Pros:
- Price
- Color variety
- Pigment and lightfast info on tubes (but I doubt the accuracy of the info)
- Non Toxic
Cons:
- The paint is streaky and sluggish and paintings get duller and flatter the more layers you add.
- No info on where the paint is made (but I think it is China)
Bottom line: The Meeden tube watercolor is a pass in my book. Go for the fan palette, it is better paint at the same price. You don't get as much but it is way better quality. The 100% cotton paper is a steal and I totally recommend that. The brushes are OK but there are better alternatives in that price range and I had a bit of shedding with mine plus the nylon bristles dropped water rather than holding it so it's just not a great brush for watercolor in my opinion. I have been happy with Meeden supplies overall but these tube paints and brushes did not meet my expectations.
I hope my reviews help you make smart art supply purchases. Have you used this paint? If so what do you think? I'd love to know in the comments. Happy crafting!
