slowly gaining momentum
page two is finished
I think a theme is developing - but I'm not ready to commit in case it locks me into something at this early date
page three (right) ready to start
still only stitching with thrums, they offer a vast selection of colours, weights and textures
special threads aren't necessary
pin loom weaving continues
warping creates three layers of threads
handspun 2 ply dyed with Yarrow, alum mordant, over a pale grey wool
one square requires 7.33 yards
the Weave-It loom weaves at 8 ends per inch (epi)
much of my yarn needs to be doubled to be heavy enough for 8 epi
sometimes I warp with doubled yarn and then weave with a single 2 ply
because of the three layers of warp the woven piece has one row of single and one row of double - it makes a good weight
a blanket measuring 45"X45" requires approx. 1.5lbs. (24oz.) or 680 grams of handspun 2 ply wool
finishing this blanket will use up many small, leftover balls of yarn
but it is going to take more time
