John A. Abdallah served the Town of Norwood as a Selectman for four full three-year terms and served as its Chairman in 1967. At the time of his passing away, he was Chairman of the School Housing Study Committee. Chairman of the Balch School Addition Building Construction Committee, a member of the Airport Commission, Norwood's Representative on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Advisory Board, and Norwood's delegate to the Metropolitan Area Planning Council; also, a member of the Oldham School Building Committee, a member of the Committee on Industrial Development, and the Norwood Centennial Committee; also serving on many other minor committees.
John A. Abdallah was an outstanding leader of the community, a truly conscientious and inspiring public servant with a keen sense of the responsibilities placed upon him as an official. His every act and deed was in the best interest of the people of Norwood.
He was a supporter and defender of the Town Clutter which he referred to as the "Crown Jewel of the Commonwealth."
The Town of Norwood expresses its gratitude for his many years of devoted and faithful public service.
