it's been one very hot summer.
and now that it's finally starting to be a little less hot, i found the occasion to wear my dolman shirt out for the first time, only to snag the sleeve tab in my rush to head out the door, tearing a tiny hole in it. just my luck.
i debated whether to remake or repair, but seeing how it would be a hassle to have to rematch the plaid and re-sew the tab with the sleeve already complete (i.e. in cylindrical form), i decided to go for the latter. i reinforced the stitching where one stitch ripped by hand-stitching over a few stitches there and dabbed a little fray stopper on the torn threads of the fabric. thankfully, it's on the back side of the tab, so it won't really be noticeable.
i sent it through the wash today, and to my relief, the fix seems to be holding-- for now. 'haste makes waste' is truly well said.

やっと最近になって暑さがおさまってきたので、初めてドルマンシャツを着て出かける機会がありました。ところが、急いで家を出ようとしたところ袖タブを引っ掛けてしまい、小さな穴を開けてしまいました（涙）こういう時に限って…
タブを作り直すか修理するかで迷ったのですが、もう一度チェックの柄合わせをして、縫い終わっている（筒状の）袖にタブを縫い付ける方が大変なので、修理することに。コバステッチが一目切れてしまったところを両側含めて数ステッチ手縫いで重ねて縫い、布の糸が切れて穴が開いてしまったところはほつれ止めで処理しました。これがタブの裏側だったのが、不幸中の幸いです。
今日洗濯してみたところ、これ以上ほつれることなく大丈夫そうだったので一安心。やっぱり「急がば回れ」ですね。
