This is another one of those bag brands that I've been seeing a lot of online (and with most of these bags, I have to wait until I'm traveling to get to see them in person, because stockists in Manila are quite limited in their selection and range). I guess it's just a feature of instagrammable type of bag brands to be disappointing IRL. After all, they only need to look pretty in photos until you click 'checkout' and pay. Sadly, this one is no different.
I suppose to be fair, this isn't THAT expensive (not as disproportionately priced as Wandler, for example), but it should at least be better quality than what you can find in fast fashion stores. The leather is quite thin and plasticky, and the hardware was already all scratched up. Interior lining is fabric, which is still acceptable at this price range. But I can't quite get past the plasticky feel, and how the shade of camel was just a tad off (you know what I mean, there are just some colorways that don't translate and end up in the outlet mall).
This was just a small display in the sale section, so I didn't get to examine other styles from DeMellier, but it was enough of a starting point to be able to gauge certain things and standards of this brand. For me, unless it's discounted more deeply and is a style you really like, it doesn't feel super worth it.
Take note that this is how this is supposed to look:
I'd be curious to inspect these bags that I also always see online and which are more structured. They lookreally nice in the photos, but again that doesn't mean anything until I can get my hands on them and inspect them up close.
