Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Since back to school is right around the corner, this week's topic is a school freebie. Honestly, I love school. I would go back to school in a heartbeat. I love learning all the things and reading is one of the best ways to continue learning after you get out of school. I love a compelling book, one that really makes you think. So this week I decided to tell you all about some of my Favorite Nonfiction Books.
Here are 10 of my Favorite Nonfiction Books:
1. Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg. This book is a bit old (published in the 80s) but is excellent for jump-starting your creativity.
2. Becoming by Michelle Obama. This is an amazing book and I wish I was as great a writer as Michelle Obama is.
3. On Writing by Stephen King. Probably the best book I've read about writing.
4. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. I think everyone should read this book.
5. Bad Blood by John Carreyrou. This book and the story about the rise and fall of Theranos is outrageous and so captivating!
6. A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. A humorous look at...nearly everything.
7. Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe. It might take you a while to get through this book but this is a riveting look into three generations of the Sackler family.
8. The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson. Really, all of Erik Larson's books are superb and you can't go wrong with any of them.
9. Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. A first person account of the deadliest season in the history of Mt. Everest.
10. Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. A fascinating read about where food comes from and how it is made.
That's my list!
