There is a lighthouse boat at the Maritime museum near us. I love going past it and thinking of times gone by, when lighthouses were manned and vitally important for maritime traffic.
There was also a lighthouse right next to our hotel in Oskarshamn
In years gone by, lighthouse keepers would have to manually keep the light burning, and live in isolated places all their lives in order to keep ships safe. Nowadays many of these old lighthouses are abandoned or automated.
