Supervised by the Branch Manager, the Library Technology Program Coordinator is responsible for creating diverse, community-focused, STEAM-based programs at the South Novato Library Makerspace, headquartered on the Marinovation Learning Center (MLC) campus. MLC is a unique partnership between Marin County Free Library, Novato Unified School District, and local non-profit XR Libraries to run an innovative joint-use School-Community Library and Makerspace focused on 21st century learning outcomes and family-centered programming using a cradle to career framework.
The Library Technology Program Coordinator instructs youth in the Makerspace, performs outreach to schools and the community, and collaborates with Library and XR Libraries staff on projects large and small, in addition to responsibility to hire, train, and supervise teen Webstar interns.ABOUT YOU
The ideal Marin County Free Library candidate works effectively both independently and in a team environment; recognizes and respects cultural differences; has a firm commitment to addressing social equity issues and improving educational outcomes for children; is passionate and enthusiastic about library services; and recognizes that the library is a place where information transforms lives. Experience working in underserved communities is highly desirable.
The ideal Library Technology Program Coordinator understands that equity and inclusion must be built into the foundation of making, inventing, and learning environments. They enjoy engaging with and instructing youth and collaborating on the MLC with the small, yet diverse South Novato team. The ideal candidate is flexible and able to change focus when needed, comfortable in the Makerspace and interacting with patrons in the Library. The ideal candidate enjoys information sharing and collaborating with makers and colleagues within the greater Marin County Free Library. They are creative, life-long learners who are passionate about building community with students, schools, local organizations, and library patrons of all ages. They must be knowledgeable of cutting-edge technologies with innovative ideas about integrating technology such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and Makey Makey into programming. Bilingual skills are highly desirable.

Typically, completion of two years of college or technical training in computer science or a field closely related to the assignment, and one year of experience teaching or presenting information to audiences.
Experience with program development and technology instruction is highly desirable.
Certificates and Licenses: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving history as obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles may be required for some assignments. ABOUT THE PROCESS

Important Information: Pursuant to the Order of the Marin County Public Health Officer it is required that all County employees confirm their vaccination status.
