Olivia and Rick dated when they were younger, but after a disastrous end to their dig, they went their separate ways; Olivia hid behind books, but Rick ventured out into the field and turned his back on academia.
Fast forward seven years and they're now stuck together for six weeks teaching at the same field school. Much as they deny it, sparks fly between them, but it's a risk for both of them. It's a choice between love and their reputations, but which will they choose?
Field Rules is a charming second chance romance, which is one of my favourite romance tropes, with a couple of sexy scenes to add a little steaminess along the way.
I enjoy it when a book is set in a foreign country, giving me a chance to go travel from the comfort of my couch and not get sunburned. The novel really brought the setting of Cyprus to life through with wonderful descriptions.
I really enjoyed the archeological aspect of the story as I honestly don't think I've read another romance with this theme. According to her author bio, Carla Luna is a former archeologist and that knowledge really shines through without bogging the story down in too much detail.
This is the first in the Romancing the Ruins series and I'm very excited for more. In fact, it even lets you know who the next couple are at the end of the book, so make sure that you look out for that.
If you're looking for a romance with both sweet and spicy moments, then I'd highly recommend Field Rules to you!
