Review:
I want to thank Rachel at Rachel's Random Resources for the invite for this tour and the author for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
So I read A Wish For Jinnie, the first in the Cranley wishes series, back in 2020 and I got my wish for a sequel! A Wish for Jo can be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading the first book too.
A Wish for Jo is a rom com with a supernatural twist in the form of Aaliyah, the genie who grants three wishes to Jo, the put-upon owner of A Bit of Crumpet. She's a bit fed up with everything and doesn't take kindly to her annoying new 'assistant' Aaliyah, but then a new resident of Cranley, Harvey, comes into her cafe. He's gruff and unfriendly, but something in her feels a bit sorry for him. With the help of Aaliyah and Harvey, can Jo find her happiness again?
A Wish for Jo is a fun and light-hearted novel, a nice bit of escapism in these trying times.
I felt for poor Harvey, losing his beloved wife, then his career. It's little wonder he's in the state that he was! I didn't warm to Jo as much as I did the character of Jinnie. I found Jo a bit curmudgeonly at times, but I enjoyed her comebacks and sharp wit.
The chemistry between Jo and Harvey really made this story. They get off to a rocky start, but seeing the slow build of attraction between them was lovely to read.
The secondary characters were well developed and a bit quirky, which is always entertaining. I adored Jinnie's grandmother Wilma, who may have only had a few moments in the story, but she was a bit of a scene stealer!
A Wish for Jo is an enjoyable Rom Com full of sweet moments and quirky characters that will give you warm fuzzy feelings from beginning to end.
