Willa Bauer has just opened up her new cheese shop, Curds & Whey, in the small town of Yarrow Glen. But when the local food critic she invited to review her shop is found dead, stabbed with a knife from Willa's shop, Willa worries the negative publicity may cause her shop to close unless she can figure out who the killer is.

I do love a cozy mystery with a pun in the title and this cozy mystery delivered. It was full of small-town antics, an amateur sleuth, and a killer that I did not see coming.

This is the first book in a new series and I thought it set the series up very well. The book is full of an eclectic cast of characters that were easy to keep track of. Everyone has their own story and the author portrayed the setting of the small town very nicely. If you squint very hard, you might see a dash of romance that I suspect will pan out in subsequent books. The author introduces two men that Willa may or may not be interested in and I am curious to see what happens with both of them.

I loved how knowledgeable Willa was about cheese. She is always throwing out some cheese facts and knows the best cheese to pair with any drink. She also knows how to cook the most delicious cheese-filled meals. Does every cheese connoisseur know how to make the perfect french onion soup like Willa?

The only real complaint I have is that it wasn't entirely clear why Willa was so invested in the murder. I felt that the police made it evident that she was not a suspect so it wasn't as if she was trying to clear her own name. None of her good friends or employees were suspects either. She wasn't that familiar with the suspects, because she was new in town, so I didn't see why she cared so much about who the killer was. I know she said she was worried about the killer being linked to her cheese shop, but there were multiple times when the shop was super busy. In my opinion, there weren't any stakes for her.

That being said, this book was super fun and full of cheese!
