I've been out of school and on summer break now for three and a half weeks. Today it's as great as it was on the first day. I love summer break.
I went outside to check on my little patio area and noticed that the chair I have out there has bird poop under one spot. It's obvious the birds are using it as a perch. I've felt bad ever since I had to remove my active and lovely bird feeder (Thanks, squirrels!). I have a bird bath I have not set up. I've had it since the other apartment, but there were always yard cats around and I felt like having a bird bath there would simply be luring birds to their death.
Here at this new apartment there is a yard cat in the front parking lot. But out back is more compact, with lots of trees just 40 feet away. I have not seen cats in the back. I decided to set up the bird bath on the little patio. I don't think birds will come to it while I am sitting there, because it's close. I'm not out there that often. But I might move the bird bath a few feet away at some point anyway. There is a large tree right above so they can fly up to preen after taking some drinks.
I am not traveling this summer, I'm saving my pennies to buy another car. But I live in a nice area and there is plenty to enjoy right here. These photos are from my front door and my back door today. I had a nice respite outside in my chair, watching the squirrels, birds, and this little lizard. Listening to the wrens and cardinals and cicadas. Here are some pics for you.
