Professional Instagram research

I decided to look at other designer's Instagram's to gain inspiration for my own professional design Instagram. I was looking out for:

  • Profile pictures
  • Professional/useful bios
  • Highlights + highlight cover pictures
  • Co-ordinated feed
  • Consistent colours and coherent identity

Image 1: @wob.agency Instagram. I really like how this designer has integrated their brand assets into the posts, profile picture and highlight cover images; the highlight cover images are very informative about what they contain. There is a clear colour palette throughout the page. I would like my own account to be this cohesive.

Image 2: @errosest Instagram. I love their bright colours, I find it exciting to look at. Their highlight cover images are all cohesive and show the brands colour palette too. They have featured assets sprinkled throughout the account, such as the bubbly type. I want my account to be as exciting and bright as this account.

Image 3:@uiadrian Instagram. A completely different style feed, but really helpful for my interest in UI and UX. Each of their posts is the same layout to show their consistency. The icons for the highlight cover images are very uniform and recognisable. Finally, their bio is layout out very neatly. I want my professional account to be this organised.

Image 4: @mzayyanin Instagram. Although this is a jewellery artist's account, I still found it really inspiring for my own account. I love the coordination between all of the highlight cover images, which are all bright colour gradients. I also really like their profile image which is a character brand asset.

Image 5: @polina_draws Instagram. This is an illustrator's account, however I really like the layout. Their feed is laid out like a check board, switching between a purple background or pastel blue/pink. It is a really clever way of drawing the viewers attention and making them curious enough to keep looking. If I plan my feed out before I post things, I can try and make my account this aesthetically pleasing.

Image 6: @boringfriends Instagram. This account is very different from mine, however is very nicely laid out. It is a graphic design account, shown through their colour coordinated posts and matching profile picture. The highlight cover images don't all match each other, however 2 of them are very clearly on brand. I would love my account to be as exciting to look at as this one, with lots of illustrations and designs showcasing my work.
