In this post I am going to talk about the things that I like about my work in this module, as well as the things that could be improved, and how I want to grow in the future.
In this module I found out that I really like to design entire brand identities. It is a lot of work to have to consider everything the brand needs designed, but I found it more fulfilling than designing just a logo by itself. I would like to try designing more brand identities, even if it's just practice to start with.
I enjoyed the embossing process thoroughly, and would like to try and incorporate practical design techniques into my mainly digital work again.
I found it fun to design my own logo, seeing it develop from a sketch to a full branding suite is very fulfilling, and I feel like it represents me and my work.
A mockup of my printed brand identity from Freepik. I made a simple sticker and envelope design using my different logo lockups. I feel like they are all cohesive and work well together, while still working alongside my website, which is the same colours.
If I were to improve my work in this project, I would like to retry printing my business card. The paper was spongy as I thought that would help the embossing, however it ended up being too soft and frayed a bit at the edges after a few days. On top of this, it was hard to see the debossed logo on the back of the business card. Next time, I would like to try a harder card, maybe textured, and try some colourful foils.
I could also make a second animation to be used on my website or Instagram. I would like to improve my animation skills and practice more with Adobe After Effects.
In the future, I plan on growing my professional Instagram account by posting more quality designs, engaging with stories and maybe even tutorials. I also need to start some new projects so that I have more work to put on my website portfolio. As shown by my logo, I want my graphic design knowledge and skills to continue to grow and develop. I also want to work more digitally, designing UI for apps and using the Adobe suite, as well as learning more about UX, sustainability and accessibility and implementing it into my work.
