Laura's business trip to the Channel Islands gets off to the wrong start after she accidentally picks up the incorrect bag at the airport. When she goes through the suitcase, trying to figure out who the owner is (and who presumably has her suitcase), she is amazed to discover that the suitcase contains all the things Laura likes. Could this mystery suitcase owner be Laura's true love? She enlists the help of Ted, a local cab driver, to help her track down her Mr. Right as well as show her around the island.

This is a charming book about finding love, as well as finding out who you are. The reason for Laura's trip to the Channel Islands is to write about her parent's love story however she quickly learns that the story she's been told may not be the truth. On top of searching for the mysterious suitcase owner, Laura is forced to reevaluate everything she knows about her parents and herself.

I was a little skeeved out by the fact that Laura goes through the suitcase. I mean, she takes everything out of the suitcase and then she even wears some of the clothes. And then when she actually meets the suitcase guy, he is just fine with it? This is after she decides not to return the bag to the airport and literally runs away with it because she is convinced that when they meet to exchange bags, her and her mystery man will fall in love.

There were some cute parts in the books. I really liked the sections where Ted is showing Laura around the island and the descriptions of everything. I also really liked Ted's dad, Gerry. There were some other great side characters, like Laura's great aunt and grandmother.

I confess, I did kind of check out of this book about two-thirds of the way in. I didn't love the Laura character (as evidenced by my revulsion of her going through the suitcase) and when we finally meet the suitcase man, he was just a little too perfect. At that point, I felt like I knew where the story was going so I did skim a bit and wasn't as interested in finding out what happened.

I didn't love this book but it was still a fun read.
