The slideshow above shows my development of my logo throughout the project after doing my initial sketches. All of these were made in Illustrator, which I feel I have gotten much better at since the start of my course.
Image 1: Initial digital drawings based off of sketches. I decided to try more of the nature-based sketches to develop as to me they symbolise growth and the environment, both things are important to me in my designs. At this stage I am designing in slate and white as a logo that works in monochrome will be able to work in any colour.
Image 2: Started to integrate logotype into the logo, to go alongside a logomark. At this stage, I really liked the lily pad idea as they symbolise peace and calm, which is something I might like to be associated with my designs.
Image 3: Lots more ideas of possible logo marks and logotypes. I really wanted the logo to feature something plant related, as it symbolises growth and nature. I tried some messy/illustrative plants as I enjoy illustration and would like to do more of it. I tried some geometric plants and some very simplistic. After this experimentation, I decided to develop the geometric and simple flower design in the O.
Image 4: Full draft for possible logo + brand assets.I designed a simple geometric flower and designed some possible buttons for the website.
Image 5: Late experimentation of possible tagline, brand name and logo layout. After this experimentation, I decided to go for 'Orla Martha graphic design' with a taller flower, and a simple flower as an accompanying asset like in secondary website features.
Look at my next post to see the full final logo design, with brand colours and assets.
