The Discerning Eye by Carol Orange is an incredible fictional story inspired by the historical art heist in 1990. Where the unsolved theft of the thirteen works of art were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. I remember quite well this art theft and the devastating loss of some of the most important pieces of art. Some of my all time favorites. The theft involved a curious mix of pieces that adds more to the mystery.
A fast paced and absorbing book that follows Art dealer and museum curator, Portia Malatesta. Upon the news of the single largest property theft in the world, she sets about uncovering the motive and profiling the thieves. Determined and willing to put her own life at risk to find and recover. Emotionally driven because one of the art pieces hold a sentimental value to her concerning her brother.
