It's senior year at the Scholomance and things are not going great for Galadriel and her classmates. The school is still trying to kill them and they've only got the rest of the year to figure out how they are going to survive graduation.

The Last Graduate is the second book in the Scholomance series. We meet up again with El and her friends as they are in their last year of school and preparing for the bloodbath that is graduation. The Scholomance and the mals that infest it are still out to kill everyone until El comes up with an idea that just might save all of them. The book ends in a cliffhanger so we will have to wait for the third book to find out what happens to everyone.

I didn't like this book quite as much as A Deadly Education (read my review here). The book was fun and interesting and I'm really enjoying the world this series is set in. That being said, I found myself falling asleep a lot while trying to finish this book. I'm not sure why - maybe I was just really tired when I read this book? I definitely think the second part of the book has more action and is more exciting and once I got past a certain point, I was compelled to keep reading and turning the pages.

There is a lot of exposition and info-dumping in the book. There are so many huge blocks of text on the pages where the author is telling you more information about the school or about the history of the school. I just felt like I was taking in so much information. I can't remember if other books this author has written are so exposition-heavy, but I guess I felt that since this is the second book in a trilogy that we would be past the exposition phase. I understand getting a lot of information in the first book because the author is setting up the story and the world it takes place in, but I thought we wouldn't still be learning something brand new at the end of the second book. I think I just wanted more dialogue and not so much introspection.

I liked that there were more characters introduced in this book. El is slowly growing her circle of friends and allies. We get more insight into her and realize that while we thought she was a selfish girl that only looked out for herself, she really does care for everyone in the school. I definitely enjoyed her character growth as well as the new insight we got into Orion.

The next book doesn't come out for a whole year but I will wait for it.
